Boulder Creek Golf Course
USKids Nevada State Invitational
Yana Wilson is at it again.
Thanks to an opening day back to back eagles, a 65 yard hole out from the fairway at the par 4 15th hole, followed by a 12 foot putt for eagle on 16th hole, Wilson began the Inaugural USKids Nevada State Invitational Saturday with a six-under-par 66. It was her best round in relation to par for an 18 hole tournament this year. The round also marked her lowest score 29 (-7) for 9 holes. Wilson had a stretch of holes on the opening day that included birdie, birdie, eagle eagle, at Boulder Creek Golf Course.
Omg, I love that course! I recently won a USKids Tournament there 2 weeks ago shooting 6 under par 30 for 9 holes. I didn’t start my round off on the right foot. I was a little nervous playing with other girls from out of state. These girls were good making birdies left and right. I found myself 4 shots back. I settled down.
Before I made my hole out for eagle on 15, my dad started making up this song singing “highlights, I want some highlights, give me some highlights”.. My very next shot I holed it out from 65 yards. We made a side bet last month that If I won the the Nevada State Championship he would get me highlights in my hair. So now, I get to have highlights in my hair. Yay! Ive waited a long time for this.
Wilson’s round on the 2nd day included an opening birdie on the first hole. She finished the day with 9 birdies on her card but also had 4 bogeys and a double bogey. ” The wind was up big today making some holes a little difficult. I was able to finish my round under par” Wilson said. Yana came into the club house posting a 3 under par 69 score which was good for a 7 shot lead to win the 2017 Nevada State Invitational.
Great job Yana! Now lets go get some highlights! You earned it.
